Our story

From the forest, with respect

A small Irish shop bringing sacred goods from the Brazilian forest to people who value where they come from.

Mata Sagrada means “sacred forest” in Portuguese. The name is a reminder of where everything we sell begins: in the Amazon, in the hands of the families who have prepared these goods for generations.

Who we work with

We buy directly from makers in Acre, in the Brazilian Amazon, in small batches. Paying fairly and buying direct means the people who keep these traditions alive are the ones who benefit from them.

How we pack

Every batch is checked here in Ireland, sealed in airtight black tins and labelled with the blend, its origin and the date it was packed. Tools like kuripe and tepi are hand-made, so each one is slightly different.

What we believe

  • Respect for the tradition. These are ceremonial goods with deep cultural roots, not novelties.
  • Honesty. We describe what things are and where they come from. We never make health claims.
  • Care for the forest. Our palo santo comes only from naturally fallen wood, and our sage is cultivated, not wild-harvested.
